About Us

Our group has performed at least one of WS Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan's Savoy operas almost every year at a theatre in the Ipswich area since before we were all born!

We all love the enduring comedy and beautiful music they contain and the change to 'tread the boards' at Woodbridge's Seckford Theatre each autumn. Although these operas were created towards the end of the Victorian era, the jokes and satire of Gilbert remain fresh, and Sullivan's classically based music enhance the effect. Gilbert inspired many 20th Century popular lyricists while Sullivan composed material ranging from popular songs, parodies,of classical works and serious music and was a favourite of Queen Victoria. The combination proves irresistible. You can find out more about our shows using the link above.

But one show a year is not enough for many of us, so we meet during the wintermonths to rehearse a very varied selection of songs and music. This is different - and usually more challenging - repertoire, together with just a little G&S, forms the programme you will hear and see in our concert season. We're delighted to support our local community and good causes, and enjoy a jolly good sing at the same time!

New members are always welcome whether they be experienced singers or not. You don't need to be able to read music to be a member but must enjoy singing a wide repertoire. We all benefit from the expertise and coaching of our musical directors Phil and Andrew so that, collectively and individually, we work to improve.

We take our singing very seriously. We laugh a lot too. Our doors open every Monday at 7:30pm for rehearsal at Belstead Village Hall. Just pop in and sing with us!

Can we help your charity?

If you work with a charity we'd be delighted to sing for you; all you have to do is find a venue and sell tickets.
